LSRS Program

Program Development

The initial proof of concept framework for the LSRS program was developed by Spatial Data Systems Consulting based on the LSRS Technical Bulletin.

The Alberta Government supported the extension/refinement of the LSRS proof of concept program to use Alberta soil information (AGRASID). This resulted in version 2.2 of the LSRS program.

Subsequently, work was undertaken to determine the feasibility of the LSRS program to utilize information within the National Soil Database (NSDB). Version 2.7 of the LSRS program implemented the results of the feasibility study.

Version 3.0 of the LSRS program allowed for several different crops to be modeled using NSDB data (this was not available for the Alberta soil information).

Spatial Data Systems Consulting has continued to develop the LSRS program and the current version is 3.3. This version supports multiple climate scenarios and multiple models.

The current LSRS program is a interactive map-based desktop application which combines required land and climatic information with necessary modeling. Some screenshot and reporting examples follow. Click for larger images (in a new window).
