Gerry Tychon is principal and senior consultant of Spatial Data Systems Consulting.

Gerry has more than 20 years of progressive information systems experience in the application of information technology to complex situations, specializing in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

With expertise in software, systems architecture and development, as well as management and business needs analysis, Gerry provides strategic technology planning and data management services to federal and provincial government agencies, notably in Alberta and British Columbia. As well, over the years, Gerry has worked closely with First Nations organizations with regard to GIS technology.

Gerry has a broad base of experience with teaching, workshops, information management, and geographic and other information systems. He has been active in GIS standards efforts in Canada for many years and is a current voting member of the Canadian General Standards Board Committee on Geomatics.

Gerry has a background in computing science and mathematics, with B.Sc and M.Sc in Computing Science (image processing) from the University of Alberta. 

 


Senior Associates

Glen Langford is a pioneer in the GIS industry in Western Canada. Glen’s work goes back to the early 1970s – the beginning of GIS in Canada. He was a driving force behind the development and utilization of raster GIS for analysis and modeling, both in Alberta and BC, and was instrumental in the development of raster GIS processing software and systems.

Glen has extensive experience teaching and lecturing with design and presentation of advanced concepts and techniques for the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT).

He has worked with both government and private industry as well as being an international consultant to the Department of Agriculture, Government of India through Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of United Nations and the Department of Agriculture, Government of Malaysia in association with Canadian International Development Association (CIDA).
